WHAT IS Spare Respiratory Capacity (SRC)
  • In aerobic cells, the majority of ATP is produced by oxidative phosphorylation. This process takes place in the mitochondria.
  • The term spare respiratory capacity is used to describe the amount of extra ATP that can be produced by oxidative phosphorylation (OP) in case of a sudden increase in energy demand.
    - The differences between ATP produced by OP at basal and that at maximal activity is terms `spare respiratory capacity’.
The Study
  • Copenhagen University: Muscle cell mitochondrial stress response study.
  • Mitochondrial Oxygen Consumption Rate in muscle cells exposed to Ribetril A in two doses as compared to untreated control.
  • Mitochondrial Oxygen Consumption Rate (OCR, pmol/min) in C2C12 cells exposed to ribetril A.

Result Show :
  • Ribetril A treated muscle cells demonstrated a higher basal level of oxygen consumption as well as a higher Spare Respiratory Capacity.
2) COOPER TEST – Improved Sports Performance
  • Endurance exercise training increases the mitochondrial enzymes capacity and total mitochondrial volume, therefore, increase the athlete’s performance potential.

A Pilot Cooper test was conducted.

WHAT IS Cooper Test:
Is it a physical fitness test. The point of the test is to run as far as possible within 12 minutes.

  • For 3 weeks, the athletes took a daily dose of Ribetril A, active component of MitoActive and performed a Cooper every week.

Performance in repeated Cooper tests (relative change).

Results shows as follows
  • A significant increase in performance of 1.8% (p<0.05) compared to baseline performance was observed already after one week of intake of Ribetril A, MitoActive™. 
  • After 2 and 3 weeks, a further increase in performance of 4.2% (p<0.001) and 4.5% (p<0.001) respectively was observed.

3) The Effect of Ribetril A, MitoActive™ versus placebo on the urine metabolome in trained athletes during a 21 days intense exercise schedule 
  • Placebo-controlled Clinical Trial in 31 highly trained athletes

  • Ribetril A, MitoActive™ prevented an increase in lactic acid seen in the placebo group indicating a decrease of anaerobic metabolism (P ≤ 0.0001).
  • Ribetril A, MitoActive™ prevented a fall in pyruvic acid seen in the placebo group indicating a better maintenance of aerobic metabolism (P ≤ 0.01).
